Bowls Notes 2nd December 2016

Post date: Dec 05, 2016 4:31:4 AM

What a great year it has been at our Club. Last Friday we held our Breakup, Presentation of trophies and our Xmas Lunch. Sadly we lost a couple of players and we will miss Carmel Smith and Doris Munro, but we wish them well at their new chosen club. However we have gained a couple of new players, they being June Wilkie, Roz Emery, Elsa Penny and Janet Reed. We hope you enjoy playing with the Bundaberg Ladies next year and you are heartily welcome into our Club. Winning the 2nd Division Pennants was a great achievement by those who played. Congratulations ladies. We now have to go into Division 1 next year. 2016 has seen the end of the Bundaberg Ladies Bowling Club as we go into amalgamation with the Bundaberg Men in 2017. We look forward to this happening and hope for a smooth transition.

Our bowling year ended with a great day at the Club House. Almost every member attended and we had the most magnificent Lunch - thank you ladies for the salads and Desserts and a big thank you to Vince Smith for carving the ham for us. Great job Vince. We had some Poems of Pam Ayres read out which had us in fits of laughter and a couple of others which were written by one of the bowlers. Then it was Shirley Gastaldon our “Games Director” for the day who planned some games for us to participate in. I have to say that it was the best Xmas Breakup Day that I have ever had and I,m sure most of the people there would agree.

Our thanks to President Carol who will . become Immediate Past President next year, You were a great president Carol and on behalf of the ladies, we wish you well and thank you for your dedication and hard these last couple of years. I know you will be looking forward to a more relaxed year of bowllng in 2017.

Our bowling will begin on January 27th at 1.00 p.m. with our Friendship Day. So bring along a friend, and your friend can be a bowler or non bowler.

Just a reminder ladies that our Annual Fees are due by 31st December and that our A.G.M will be held on Friday 3rd February, but you will be reminded of that again after we start. Please get your nomination forms in to Secretary Hilda Schmidt as soon as you can.

In closing, I wish all bowlers a safe and happy Xmas and a very healthy New Year, and we look forward to meeting up a green somewhere playing the sport we love so much.
